It is the third installment in The Expendables film series, with Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Terry Crews reprising their roles from the previous films as members of a team of mercenaries who set out to stop a dictator from being installed in the Middle East. In addition to the original cast from the first two films, Wesley Snipes and Antonio Banderas have been added to this film’s list of characters. Principal photography began on August 11, 2013, in New Orleans. At the time of its development, the film was reported to be titled The Expendables: To Hell and Back. The Expendables 3 was released on August 15, 2014 in North America and earned $39 million worldwide at the box office. It’s also the highest-grossing movie of this movie series.

According to Sly’s Instagram, it has been announced that Wesley Snipes and Harrison Ford will make appearances in the movie. It was also reported that Ronda Rousey and Victor Ortiz would be making an appearance in this movie. Later, it was confirmed that MMA fighter Randy Couture will be making an appearance in the film.
In October 2013, Lionsgate announced that the film would be released on August 15, 2014 in North America. On June 11, 2014, the film was moved up one week from its initial release date of August 15 to August 8, 2014. It was then moved up another week to August 15, 2014. It was released earlier in Germany on August 6, 2014 to take advantage of the country’s school holiday.
On January 9, 2013, it was announced that director Patrick Hughes will be directing the third installment in The Expendables series. On December 1, 2013, it was reported that actor Wesley Snipes is in talks to join the film. On December 2, 2013, actor Antonio Banderas joined the cast of The Expendables 3.
